Thank you for writing this clear-eyed essay. It does indeed honor Minnesota’s Day of Truth and Freedom beautifully!

A friend just now boarded her plane here in Portland, Oregon, for her flight to Florida to go birding for a long weekend. She was adopted as an infant from Brazil, and she has dark skin and hair. She texted last night that she was worried about being abducted by ICE and sent to a detention center when she is in Florida. I'm going to be tracking her movements so I know she is safe, or I can do something (what?) if she is detained.

Indivisible is offering virtual training. If you look to the Alexandria MN chapter there are two sessions coming up soon.

Thanks for this. All respect and support for Minnesotans bearing the brunt of weaseldom.

Great column Laura! You may get some negative responses but I enjoyed how you tied it to the cooperative nature of chickadees and sharing with others.

Excellent column, Laura. Let’s hope for "ICE out" in Minnesota.

And your analysis of human greed in contrast to most animals is right on.

I recently read that one reason greed is limitless for certain people is that their only criterion of success is money, so more money is more praiseworthy.

They totally missed the boat on ethics and morality!

Those greedy pigs could learn a lot from Chickadees!!

Stay warm!

Thanks for a beautiful expression of a moral position that humans should embrace.
