On the Duluth Airwaves
Three links to interviews with me or about my work.
One of my friends just asked me to provide a link here to a recent interview I did with Luke Moravec of The North 103.3. I talked to Luke on April 30, because I was going to be out of town on May 12, the 40th anniversary of my very first “For the Birds” radio segment. Yep— “For the Birds” has been on the airwaves here in Duluth for 40 years! The program started on KUMD, and came along for the ride in late 2021 when the station transitioned away from being a college station to The North 103.3, with the new call letters WDSE.
When available, Luke has been airing original programs on Tuesdays through Fridays, and pulling oldies from my huge archive when I haven’t produced a new one. On the program’s 40th anniversary, he also aired:
* Community Connection: 40 Years of For the Birds
Every Friday, Luke airs a cool program he calls “Back Tracks,” in which he “invites a special guest to answer three deeply personal music questions—revealing the songs that define their memories, inspirations, and moments that matter most.” He interviewed me for Back Tracks this past November:
*Back Tracks: Three Music Questions with Laura Erickson
It wasn’t until I was looking for these two links that I discovered that, in 2022, one of my favorite people, Tom Kasper, who owns Birchview Greenhouse and Farm, had talked on-air with Luke about my book, 100 Plants to Feed the Birds!

Really liking this, Chickadee!
