Several people have sent me recommendations for different exercise programs. I'm not the kind of person who likes to try new things (except with regard to birds), and I've been doing my Jane Fondas for decades. Just in the past 9 years, my comfortable routine with the Jane Fonda Complete Workout has gotten me through the awful aftermath of two heart attacks and a lumpectomy/lymph node excision. I've got a lot of birds and birdsongs to master in the next two months, so as far as the routine, mundane rituals of daily life, I stick with what I know and love.

I was reading Threads yesterday and a picture of Jane and her trainer popped up. Yup - she’s still doing them. https://www.prevention.com/fitness/a42533492/jane-fonda-still-does-80s-workout-video-at-85-to-stay-in-shape/

What magnificent birds Pileated Woodpeckers are! I saw one once on an Audubon bird walk west of Portland and I was amazed by their size and wingspan. Your pictures of them are delightful. Now that I'm living in Oregon again, I would love to have one at our feeders. Since we moved back, the only woodpecker we have seen is the Red-shafted Flicker though they haven't come to our feeders or seed cakes as they had in Alaska. We do have three Black capped Chickadees often but haven't seen our favorite Chesnut Backed Chickadees that we had in Ketchikan. Another darling bird that frequents are feeders now is the Red breasted Nuthatch. They will allow me to get quite close and listen to their fascinating calls and conversations. Another favorite bird that we also saw year-round in Ketchikan is the Anna's Hummingbird. I have three nectar (sugar) feeders which I clean and refill every other day. They are time intensive though such a delight to watch. I enjoy an occasional close conversation with the females that come to our feeders. So far, we haven't seen any adult males, possibly young males. The other birds we have delighted in seeing again are the flocks of Canada Geese. What an amazing spectacle when they fly over! Our most common feeder birds are the Dark-eyed Juncos. Some of our other favorites in Ketchikan were the Brown Creepers, the Red Bellied Sapsuckers, Ravens, and of course the Bald Eagle. I'm sure we'll see many more birds as the year progresses. I look forward to joining the Audubon walks again! Thank you again for your precious blog. Your regimen toward renewed health is commendable! Keep up the good work! Lesley in Hillsboro Oregon
